I hook rugs, I knit and I have a life - not always in that order. Hooking rugs in the traditional way is a passion. Knitting is a way of keeping those idle hands busy. In my life, I am a mother, partner, sister, aunt, friend and a happy grammy. I work with volunteers and seniors when I'm not doing those other things. I enjoy being creative - and often reinvent the wheel. Above all, I value things that are not only beautiful but useful.

Finished
So, here it is...almost finished. The hooking is all done and it's been steam blocked. I just have the dreaded binding to do now.
I still like it but I'm pretty sick of the two fabrics. There are two entire men's jackets in this rug. It's 28 by 33 inches and will take a little while to bind.
I think of it as 'stepping over the stream to Scotland' now rather than just stepping stones. Or sometimes it makes me think of ice floes - that would definitely be very northern Scotland. I'll take a photo when it's in place. Not this week, though...other hooking adventures await.
Oh, I like it! And I think the addition of the stony shoreline adds extra interest.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful composition. I especially like the little rusty bits that keep it from being just two colours.
ReplyDeletewow just beautiful
ReplyDeleteLooks great! What a great idea to add the smaller rocks - solved the fabric dilema & added a whole other area of interest. The stream colours look really cool when you blow up the picture bigger.
ReplyDeleteUh, I just enlarged the photo and see now that the rusty bits are signature and date. Anyway, the colour works.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your kind comments - you've made my day! I'm encouraged to get at that binding.
