Magnolia

Yesterday, Anne fell in love with the white magnolia and took the camera with her.


Washing dishes is a pleasure when this is your view from the kitchen sink...


Some of the blossoms are still buds...


and some are hanging on to their furry winter hats.


A few blossoms lean down to meet the periwinkle on the ground...


When you look closely, you can see that some little flies have decided the flowers are as sweet as they look.

The season is all too short for these blooms but it will be nice to see the new leaves, too.  Then the tree will provide quite deep shade for the flowering plants below.

    These are great pictures. You've even captured the tiny flies! I don't remember magnolias looking like this, I wonder if there are different kinds? I love the way you've shown the buds in different stages.

    This is a very beautiful variety of magnolia. I saw one similar to this at the Toronto Botanical Garden. It's a great tree. Unfortunately, I cannot grow it where I live. Bummer!

    Oh, I would love to do dishes at your house. Actually I like my kitchen window too. I have a fir tree and lots of birds come to sit, rest, preen or play in it.

    Gorgeous shots, I am seeing a lot of magnolia in full bloom here also. I wish I had one out my kitchen window.

    I love your macro shot with the little flies. I have one today on my other blog with a honey bee. Spring has arrived in the PNW!
