The Winner

I have decided on a material...and it is leather.

I bought a suede skirt at a thrift store just for this purpose.  I was just waiting for someone to challenge me since it takes FOREVER to cut the 'yarn'.  I wonder if I would have stuck to the script if no one was watching?

I haven't decided on a final design yet but it will have lace.  I've swatched - it is possible.

  1. Oh WOW. This is going to be so interesting! Leather and lace... or more precisely, leather AS lace. Sounds quite Gothic.

  3. Oh brilliant!
Read you last post, but had no time to comment, but was thinking "leather, Stephanie, leather!"
Hey, have a look at this! Not quite lace, but very exciting!

  4. Definitely looking forward to seeing the progress and end result of your newest creation! That must be a tedious job preparing the leather.

  5. Your idea looks stimulating and challenging! I have been searching for something to do. I love to experiment. I look forward to your mwention oof this project again. I have a favourite second hand shop where much is possible and available for idea fulfillment! I used to knit a lot but now it comes down to, do I want to suffer through s head cold or not? I must get yarn fluff up my nose and have an allergic reaction. It happened the lst time i knit. As a welcome gift for my last grandchild I made a quilt instead of giving a knit gift which I had done for my other four grandchildren. But I miss having a knitting project to work on... I think I'll try again soon.Good luck with your project. Ann

  6. Rachel - I hadn't thought about that Gothic aspect. That takes me to a whole new level.

Mimi - Now I'll be waiting for Lady Gaga to knock on my door looking for fashions. I don't think I'll ever be in that league.

Lindy - it is tedious and it hurts my hands to use the scissors for hours at a time. I just keep dreaming of that finished product.

Ann - you definitely wouldn't have any yarn fluff with this yarn.

deb, paws - I'll try not to disappoint. Good thing you're all watching...keepin' me honest.

  7. I can't wait to see the outcome. I have a couple of friends who spin yarn and use scraps of denim, leather and even fur from items they've found in the thrift store. Their art yarns are quite extraordinary.
