Just a bit desperate this morning as I've got no holes in my schedule today. It is hectic from now until close of play.
We're off to participate in a long-planned-for sale of art, antiques and collectibles. We spent last night setting it up and didn't get home until past our bedtimes. The camera is coming along today so I can share later.
But, for today, we have holes. I wonder if this little guy was thrilled when he found a rock with a hole placed just so. This is a pretty nifty little hiding place for him. There's a back door, too. Seconds later, he pops up on the top of this big rock - from behind.
This tree is riddled with holes. The sapsucker has been at work drilling and I have questions. Like: how long does it take to do this? Are the holes drilled horizontally around the tree in descending rows? Or vertically? The rows of holes are a very wide belt around this cherry tree.
These tiny red ants like the holes, too. Sap is sure to attract ants to the picnic.
And, sometimes, workin' down in the hole can just wear you out!
Have fun today. Looking forward to seeing pictures!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! I love the first and last photos. Perfect for holes. Hope your day goes well.
ReplyDeleteWell, I can honestly say that your blog today is full of holes!!! I have never seen a rock with a hole in it like that! Wonder how it happened? But I can answer your question about the sapsucker, we had one who came every day and riddled our tree with holes like this, I watched him a lot. They go round the tree horizontally,at least ours did.
ReplyDeleteWonderful post! Cleverer and cleverer you are!
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun post. Right now I'm watching hole after hole of golf. It's the Master's Tournament. How could I not?
ReplyDeleteI got a fright when I saw your title, thinking it was knitting-related, oops!
ReplyDeleteIs that sapsucker a bird or insect? have never heard of them, hope we don't have them here, looks like a destructive thing.
Me too "what Mimi said" about knitting. I didn't even take that for my "h" I dislike them so much. Your posts are beautiful and fun.

I'm sure on my next walk I'll be noticing holes now too.
