Saturday Stash

Not one finished article for this edition of Stash.  It's been an action-packed week if you call typing and futzing over a newsletter great action! My mother's plan that I would be a professional with enough wealth to hire my own typists is all very well when in the working world.  But once you start messing with volunteer stuff, then all jobs become DIY.

I think my mother would have enjoyed my week.  Back in her working life,  she was a secretary - and a good one, apparently.  She would have been a whiz-bang on the computer.  If she were still on this earth, I could have given her the newsletter and she'd have had it done double-quick all the while learning how the darn program worked.  Yesterday, I fiddled around with mail-merge for over an hour.  Finally, someone else figured it out and printed the labels for me.
It's a good thing I've had this beautiful shawl to be knitting on when I get frustrated with my own slowness of fingers and mind.  I know I can always knit.  There is so much comfort in competence, isn't there?  And, the thing with shawls, is that they almost always give you more and more stitches to be working with.  This has lovely rows of stocking stitch and a really easy pattern.  I'm into the home stretch now - just 23 more rows.  Each one is progressively longer until I get to the end and some interesting short-row binding off.   I am so in love with the color - this has to be the hottest green I've ever seen.

And, the future?  I have been smitten by a shawl that Tanna made up over at Brick Street Bungalow.   The short row 'feathers' fascinate me.  So do all the color changes and I really, really want to make it.  Of course, if you look at my Ravelry queue, you'll agree that my eyes are much bigger than my knitting bag.

And, now, to the piano to practice for the workshop tomorrow.  I do not have enough stressors in my life...ha, ha, ha!

  2. Your shawl (green one) is beautiful, it looks so delicate and fine.
I clicked on your link to see the other one, which also is beautiful, but I can't see how it would be big enough to be warm, maybe that's just me though.
So, a piano workshop tomorrow, that's exciting! do tell us more, please?

  3. Comfort in competence when KNITTING? Ha! I WISH. LOL I love my attempts at knitting but my competence would be more towards the computer.

  4. Beautiful green, I think you could do 2 Wingspans in a week, provided the computer duties are done.

  8. OMG That shawl you want to knit is incredibly cool! I love it. Wish I was closer to help with the newsletter. I used to be pretty good at that kind of thing.

  9. Oh, Stephanie, I am just catching up after a week that took off with the crazies! LOL! Love that green shawl... and you are so right about the comfort of knitting and competence. I always say knitting is cheap therapy (though my LYS might prove otherwise).

thank you so much for mentioning my Wingspan in your post. That was a fun knit. Just fun! I know you will enjoy it and I look forward to seeing yours when you do!
