Even the birds know it's Ruby Tuesday.
The finches are back from their summer vacation and they're heading right for the red apples still on our neighbor's tree.
If they don't get picked soon every one will have holes pecked out by these finches. See his tail? - he's hiding behind the leaf.
They worked very hard and pecked at every apple. Then they left for another eating adventure.
Red is everywhere on Ruby Tuesday. Visit Mary T right here.
I hook rugs, I knit and I have a life - not always in that order. Hooking rugs in the traditional way is a passion. Knitting is a way of keeping those idle hands busy. In my life, I am a mother, partner, sister, aunt, friend and a happy grammy. I work with volunteers and seniors when I'm not doing those other things. I enjoy being creative - and often reinvent the wheel. Above all, I value things that are not only beautiful but useful.

Sunday Wonders - C
C is for Cartwheels....
Long forgotten in a prairie field....
Bringing the popcorn to you....
Waiting to carry passengers around the Muckross estate in Killarney....
Another use for tired old farm carts....
Still making them like they used to when our country was young....
And when I was young (er), this was as far as I could ever get to doing a cartwheel. Somehow, those legs never wanted to get off the ground in an orderly fashion and, at this point in the move, I would collapse on the ground in a heap. How I envied the other kids who could do it. I know there was a trick they weren't sharing. Right?

Faux Plaid
I bought the yarn for these socks a few weeks ago. Well, they weren't for these socks but I decided that the yarn wasn't manly enough for what I needed. Maybe I secretly wanted it for myself...d'ya think?.
All the time, I was knitting and watching the stripes grow, I kept thinking boot socks. There's something outdoorsy about them that makes me think of trees, sky and forest trails. But, as you can see from the sole of the sock, the stripes were, um, a bit stripe-ish. So, I slipped every fourth stitch on alternate rounds. Sort of like drawing a knife through the chocolate glaze on an iced cake. And I added my new find, the Balbriggan heel. Love it still.
I took this photo myself while trying not to put my sock foot down on the wet deck. Hard to stand still for very long but I got it - outdoor light is so much better. A bit 'in your face' but you can see the details really well.
If you're a sock knitter, try this heel construction. It's so easy and fits so nicely.

Conspiracy
Have you ever noticed that the word 'piracy' is part of this title? I definitely feel that temptation is an attempt by universe to hi-jack my will power.
And, as everything happens in three's - another rule of the universe - I've hit the jackpot this week.
Look what Anne brought home from the thrift shop for me! I was so excited. That's becoming tempered by reality now which is that I really don't have time to learn how to spin. But isn't it pretty? So seductive, the wheel stands in the sewing room and sings her siren song. But, no! It'll just have to wait. Then, there's the not-so-small issue of fibers everywhere. With an asthmatic in the house, we'll have to work on a solution for that before any spinning takes place. But, really...isn't it pretty?
You all know about temptation number two. Or, temptation number one since it was a few days ago. Thanks to those who voted, I have a decision on the color for my Olivier pullover. The color you chose - drum roll, please! - is Spruce. It was a bit touch-and-go with the Slate for a couple of days but in the end Spruce won handily and I'm ordering my yarn today.
And, now my third temptation. I was merrily researching something totally unrelated when up popped an ad. Well, not a pop-up because I hate those and have a blocker which is mostly effective. No, it was a banner ad on someone's blog, I think. Whatever. I'm killing myself with the suspense. Here is the link to the Simply Socks Yarn Company. What a perfect little jewel of a store for a knitter who NEEDS to knit socks to stay sane.
Too much temptation out there...I need blinders.
