This giant fir seemed to loom through the fog. But, wait! The framing trees are mountain ash and the berries are beginning to ripen and turn red. I kind of like the color and b/w effect.

Oh, my!! This is quite splendid, a study in contrasts. But it can work on so many different levels. The shrouded grey tree and the bright berry laden one, wonderful!
I love the giant fir lurking in the mist. Like you I would have thought everything would have been gray, this is a great shot. The red berries do add a nice touch of color.
