Sunday wonders - C

C is for Candle. Candles provide light and, once, they were a necessary part of every household.
There are so many different ways of creating candlelight. I found just a few examples in our house:

The bee's wax can be rolled into sheets or wicks can be dipped...

These candles are just little tea lights placed in handmade holders. All were made for weddings: birch branches from the family home and old fence posts found around Lethbridge.

A well-made candle can light your way or provide light to read...

Some candles don't even need a match to start the glow...

A candle today is probably lit to set a mood or to give extra meaning to a ceremony. Mostly, their flames flicker quietly. But as we all know, for sheer excitement and wonder, you can't beat birthday candles!

Even though they're expensive, I light candles every day. I light several in the winter to help chase away the dark.

I love the tea lights in the bark, and particularly the idea of using bark from a family tree at a wedding.
In my yoga class, we have occasionally done a bit of candle gazing- it is so soothing and so relaxing!
