The other day, there was this very odd smell in the air. Kind of like hot plastic or glue. You know how you keep trying to figure out what the smell is by relating it to other things? I was convinced it was coming from the outside since all the windows were open and the wind was blowing through the house. I was wrong.
The dishwasher was doing something which means we're washing dishes the old-fashioned way for a few days. It's not true that old habits die hard. I hand washed dishes for many more years than I've let the dishwasher do the work but I'm definitely a dependent now. Oh, heck, we don't even have a dish drainer.
Off to get my hands all prune-y...

That is definitely not fun!
Welcome to my world! Except I really enjoy doing dishes. It's my time to slow down yet feel productive. There's nothing like scrubbing a pot after a frustrating day!
Yipes, did dishwasher burn up? Are you getting it repaired or getting a new one? We have never had a dishwasher. We have the drainer on the counter.
How quickly we get used to comfort, don't we?
I had to hand wash dishes (my husband dried them) a few years ago when our old dishwasher had washed its last dish. And then we went for maybe a year before we got a new one. It was like Christmas and birthdays all wrapped up into one beautiful present when we finally had the new one installed.
We haven't had a dishwasher since we moved into our beach cottage two years ago. Most times I don't mind but sometimes........
Looks like you have a window to look out of?
Do you have one of those Maytag "firestarter" dishwashers? No kidding. I've been hearing about it on a couple of other blogs.

In the meantime, invest in a pair of rubber gloves to protect your hands from the ravages of dishwater! =D
Or paper plates till the new dishwasher comes??
sink is a messy place!
Although we have a dishwasher, we rarely use it. So washing dishes by hand is normal for us!!
