A - Z Challenge: E

E is for Empty.

I had a much different plan for this post but my mind became far too busy with the idea of emptiness.  I had to find a way to empty my mind.  Now my mind may be full of nonsense but it is always full.  The only time I can empty it - even the littlest bit - is in tai chi.  And the best I can do then is focus on my breathing.  So, in...and...out...is my mind empty?  Not quite.

I went and stood under the shower for a few minutes hoping that I could let the water wash all that busy thinking down the drain.  But I am inspired in the shower.  That's where I do all my best thinking.  The mind is free to empty and fill again with a whole new set of ideas.

The thing is, empty is just a word.  I don't see it as a negative.  Empty for me is  a positive: it has potential.  An empty box is just waiting to be filled.  An empty beach is waiting for me to experience the pleasure of a walk of discovery.   I never saw an empty shelf that I didn't love.   An empty square on the calendar means a day full of surprises.  I have so much I could put in it: it's a day to read, or knit  or putter in the garden, or, or, or.  A few empty hours are a gift.

Now I'm wondering:  is emptiness an illusion?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this post and wish I had thought of it!!!! Your take on empty is so cool!!! And you know what the best empty was? Jesus empty tomb! I have not been able to see some blogger's pictures, so if you have pictures, I can't see them. But then again, maybe you left this post empty of pictures, ha ha!! I do my best thinking at night in bed, then I always wish I had a pen and notebook, usually by the time I wake up, all my brilliant ideas are gone!

I believe that empty can be a positive too. Unless it's not. LOL I have often thought of taking up tai chi but I just do not have the patience for it. I have to have something fast when I'm moving.

Don't forget about the empty page. That's very inspiring... or terrifying depending on how you feel about stringing words together. We did Tai Chi a while ago but got out of the habit. Must be nice doing it on the water.

Whether it is an illusion or not, I would like some empty spaces in my studio. I could then, spread my wings and fly.

Fair play to you Stephanie, with Tai Chai. I tried it but couldn't get the hang of it at all, and I stuck with the classes for several weeks. Maybe just not my thing.
Empty days, now and again, I like.
Empty house, not so much, so glad it's still full.
Great post!

Hum, do you think? An illusion. I see empty as a positive also especially if it is an empty box on the calendar. I love the compost and garbage empty. Those few empty hours are a gift, thanks
