Nature time

The sun was shining today.  I know for some of my blogging friends that is not an exciting bit of news...they have way too much sun and heat.  But here, the Summer Solstice hasn't really brought that summery feel to the garden.

I followed this little fellow outside.  He seemed to be enjoying the garden.  Aren't the wings just tiny wonders?

I found a cottage garden in miniature which had completely escaped from where I thought it would like to be: in the garden bed.  Can you see the lovely gravel that it decided was a nicer home?  This is tucked into a corner of our carport and we didn't even notice it.  We were keeping our heads down in the rain and the flowers needed a day of sun to bloom.  There are cranesbill, columbine and daisies in this mix.  Daisies which took forever to decide to grow in the garden.  I think good soil was wasted on them.

The Dublin Bay rose and the white montana clematis are becoming very good friends.

And, one of the lovely parts of the flower garden in summer is the start of the blues and pinks.  Here the bluebells and pink peonies make a lovely color palette.  In the spring we long for the bright yellows, oranges and reds but as the sun gets brighter these softer shades are easier on our eyes.  Nature is so clever.

You have such lovely things in your garden. I wish I could get such a good picture of a dragonfly!

Aw, wings so delicate but capable of such feats of transport!
I love both your rose and your Peony.
And I agree, nature is so very clever with her colours, they are a wonder.
Your wildflower garden looks great. Will you keep it ther or transplant?

Everything is so pretty. I love those wings too- it's amazing to me how delicate they are and yet they are worked so hard. I think I would even miss the sun if we had as much rain as y'all have had!

Oh, I love the blues and pinks. Such a beautiful delicate colour combination. My mouth actually made an "o" shape when I scrolled down to that photo.

And what is it with daisies anyway? I've had them nearly die in the actual garden but, like yours, thrive in stupid places.

I'm so glad you finally got a bit of sunshine. Here is hoping summer is finally moving in for you.
