A - Z Challenge: Entrance

When we were in Ireland I became somewhat obsessed with the doors.

I always see doors as entrances.  Maybe because when I see a door that takes my fancy I'm usually on the outside of whatever is on the other side of the wall.

Most doors were painted with bright, primary colors in a very high-gloss enamel.   They shone in the summer sunshine.

Even the cows had doors - of a sort. But what an entrance they made from this opening in the wall.

A gate, while welcoming, is more of a two-way door.  Especially those that are left open.  Having a gate and a door makes the entrance even more welcome.

You might say, that I was entranced with Ireland's doors.  It represented the warmth and welcome I experienced there.  All part of the magic.

Who wouldn't be enchanted with such pretty doors. I want to enter each and every one of them.

No wonder you became so interested in them--they are beautiful! You need to come to Charleston and check out some of the historic doors we have here!

I LOVE this and these are all georgous!!! I would be tempted to move just to have that first yellow one. I have been working on a door post for a year now, and feel like deleting them all after looking at these, nothing can match them. I have a fascination with doors, as well. And they are such obliging photography subjects!

Beautiful set of photos, Stephanie.
I too love all of them, but the one of the cows arriving at/answering your ring at their "door" is priceless.
And I'm so pleased that you got a good welcome while here in Ireland- some of the "céad míle fáilte " was fading in the Celtic tiger era, but I think we've copped on now!
I think some of these doors are from Skerries? My friend used to live in a house there, looked exactly like your second photo. And I've driven past the yellow "Leeson Park School of Music" one at least once a week, and never noticed it, so thanks for drawing it to my attention.

Mimi - the blue door is in Skerries near the harbor. The yellow gate is from Howth. And the lovely curious cows live in Kerry.

Oh yes, these entrances are lovely. I was most entranced with the cows coming through the arch. Fabulous photograph.

Love the pictures! Doors don't look anything like that where I live. Maybe I should move to Ireland. :)

To me, the doors on vacation are so much more interesting than what I see at home. I have quite a collection from my travels.
