A good question - updated

Sometimes, you get asked a question that seems like a throw-away.   It's only after you answer that you start to think about it ...

The question was " Do you dream about knitting?".   The short answer was "no".  But then I started to wonder.  Why don't I dream about it?  Why don't I dream about any of those crafts that I do?

They say that dreaming is a way to make sense of my days and my world.  Maybe that's exactly what I'm doing while I knit.     It's a good question, though.  Do you dream about the activities that you enjoy?

Ed.  I've added the photo of  finished scarf...it was made a while ago.  Sorry if I gave the impression that I was currently working on it.  It was just an illustration of what I could be dreaming about.

Again, what lovely colors! What are you making? Now that is a deep thought! Your subconcious mind is working while you knit, so you don't need to dream about it! Because it is strange with your love of knitting, that you don't dream about it.

More beautiful colors and a unique pattern, too. Hope we'll see more of this project.

Now I'll be monitoring my dreams! Can't say I really remember them. Guess I'd better pay attention. LOL!

I dream about whatever I've recently been spending most time doing - so it can include knitting, yes, though I've yet to have a dream where I remember what I was making. I don't remember my dreams very often.

I think when you are good at something, as you obviously are, it is relaxing and you probably do sort out some of what's all mixed up in your brain. You can probably tell by how you feel after you've worked at the craft for a while.

It's hard to pinpoint when you're being creative because it happens all the time. You just don't recognize it. At least that's what I think. It's all grist for the mill. What a beautiful scarf!

I don't think I have ever dreamed about one of my crafts even when they are a problem. I do have colourful dreams and I remember a good many of them.

I'm glad you showed the finished scarf! I was so curious to see what you were making. You have an artistic eye when it comes to colors. Come to think of it, I don't dream of things I enjoy doing! My dreams are usually nightmares. But I dream in color, some people don't. Do you?

I rarely dream about photography. Perhaps you're right - I use that as a way of working out other things, so I don't need to do it in my sleep.

Whether you dreamt it or not that is one gorgeous scarf.

So, I guess it's still a question.

Ginny - I do dream in color and, amazingly, I have perfect vision despite not having my glasses on!

The scarf is lace-weight silk from Handmaiden yarns - if anyone wants that info. There are more details on my Ravelry page.

Not craft exactly, but I do dream about the game I play on the computer Zuma and Zuma's Revenge its a shoot down the balls in sets of 3 type game and I often find I am dreaming of doing so. And I am very good in my dreams Haha and in real life too actually. A great time waster and it also keeps my reflexes up to extremely fast, useful for taxi driving. And hand - eye co-ordination.

I only dream about knitting in the sense of dreaming about having the time to knit again!
In spite of good intentions, work, family, music have taken over, and the yarn hasn't even made it to the needles.
I think you probably do the dreaming while doing the knitting.
Lovely scarf, stephanie.
