Sunday wonder - P

P is for Premature...

Give the garden a week of mild weather and  it begins to think that spring is on the way.

Go back to your leafy blankets.

Stay down...the slugs are about.  Too late - this garlic has been lunched upon.

These buds could soon be gone if the freezing temps return which is our usual pattern here in Vancouver.  The promise of an early spring can be shattered by some pretty deep cold spells before spring really arrives.  Much as I want to see the early blooms, I fear for these too-eager upstarts.

What's warm up your way? We've actually had over a week of cold-for-us weather; barely reaching 30F and in the 20's at night. Brrr for us.

Rose, the temp this morning is 9C or 48F. That's pretty warm, even for us.

Green upstarts! Cheerful in the cold weather, but still a long way off from spring. The first looks like crocus? What is the pink bud? So pretty.

Yes it's a bit scary to see those brave shoots in January, especially knowing what probably lies ahead. Still it's a hopeful sign of spring.

Gosh, that is warm! Here it's 0, was -12 two nights ago!
I love your mothering attitude to the new budding plants. Would that they'd obey you, but nature has its own mind!

I guess you've got the ocean to warm thing up a bit. We've had cold, snow, ice, and rain all within the last week. Typical. Great shots, even if the plants are premature in their sprousting.

Should you wrap them up in a doona?

Have just discovered your site and really love it - am reading back over previous posts and could spend hours doing so! I was really surprised a week or so ago to see so many bulbs poking up in the garden but they are now buried under several inches of snow! Hopefully they will all survive until spring.

Oh ... wow ... what amazing shots! My bulbs started to come up in OCTOBER this year so I guess I'm going to have a really early Spring crop ;-)
Hugs and blessings,

We've sure got some weird weather happening now. I don't see any buds here, but the snow has shrunk quite a bit. Lovely spring scenes to look forward to though.

I've missed a lot again, but I don't think the calendar says it's spring yet! LOL! That's amazing to see plants coming up in January. Is it possible for them to re-bloom at the "normal" time?
