Wednesday Wotsit

I'm stealing   borrowing this idea from my friend, Angie.  Every  Wednesday, she posts a 'wotsit' photo - usually something a little mysterious - check out today's.  And you know how sometimes you just have a picture that refuses to fit into any post...here's mine.

Interesting...but what is it?

I'm hoping she makes it into a meme some time.  What do you think?

I LOVE these guessing games, even though I'm always wrong. I put them on my blog from time to time. But maybe this is one I can win! I will say it's part of a tree.

I think it is a large rock down by the water.

Thanks for joining in,Stephanie. Your pic looks like the ear of a dinosaur or a satalite view of a mine! I do agree with deb though. A tide washed rock.

Angie & Deb have it right...it is tide-washed rock. Thanks for playing.

Angie, I agree with the dinosaur ear idea. I think of an ear every time I look at it.

Ginny, it could be rock made of petrified wood but more likely to be sandstone the way it's worn.

I think it is a rock that had been under water or soft mud and a larger rock or pebble on its surface wore away part of the larger rock by its constant movement. Our river gets very low each summer and I san find rocks with grooves or holes in them from the constsnt movement of rushing water tossing rocks to and fro that gradually grind away at the surface of what's below. This is a great theme idea. i like it. Ann

At first I thought it was part of a tree, but then I saw the little stone and guessed it was a rock, really neat photo.
