Ruby Tuesday

I met this fellow while I was out snapping rose photos.  He just sat there, bold as brass, on my rose leaf.

This is a scarlet and red leafhopper - not one of the garden's good guys.  Doesn't he (or she- no idea) seem to be laughing at me as I get so-o close with the macro lens? A very determined bug, the leafhopper stood fast while the breeze shook the leaf and I edged closer.  I haven't been back to see what damage may have been done to that leaf.

More Ruby Tuesday can be found over at Mary T's place.  Go ahead, hop on over.

I find this tiny guy gorgeous. I like the red and green on his/her back. Great shot Anni!

With a great shot like that, why would you worry about a little leaf damage? :-)

RAINBOW DITTY

Dibs of yellow and dabs of red—
Rainbow colors go to my head!

Dashes of gold and crimson too—
Painted like this I can’t feel blue!

It is a very pretty bug, despite its no-good reputation! Nice macro!

We have a giant grasshopper that's fallen in love with the screen on my back door. It's there every night. Sorry I've missed your blog - I am not a fan of yarn, but gardening I love.

I can just see you spying on this grashopper! My wish is to catch butterflies, but they're so restless, lol!

He's a cute little guy, I hope he didn't wreak too much havoc.

It's sometimes hard to imagine something so pretty being so bad. I had a friend in Bowling Green Ohio who had the most wonderful garden back in the day. He never used spray---he picked the bugs off the plants and put them in his blender with some water and mixed them up into a natural spray. He said that bugs are not cannibalistic. I just know that I never ate or drank anything there that he had to use that blender to mix up. LOL

This meme allows for a lot or a little red - so this leafhopper is a good ruby - only as reds go, that is!

Well it's an interesting color for such a naughty little thing. You can only hope it ran into one of the good guys and destruction was cut short.
